How to Cast Facebook to TV from iPhone: Current Options
TL;DR: In the current Facebook iPhone app, open the Reel's player, choose Options > Cast video, and select a supported TV on the same Wi-Fi. Allow Local Network access if asked. Facebook's documented iOS casting flow does not support Chromecast; do not confuse it with other iPhone apps' Cast support. Full-screen AirPlay is a separate option when your receiver and the content allow it.
Start With Facebook's Current Video Menu
Older tutorials often point to a Watch tab or a separate Facebook Watch television app. Meta's current iPhone instructions explain that Facebook videos became Reels in September 2025 and give a Reel-based casting route.
Use the mobile app's current player controls first. Full-screen mirroring is a separate choice; installing an old TV app will not reproduce a discontinued workflow.
| Your goal | First method to check | Main condition |
|---|---|---|
| Watch a supported Facebook video | Reel player > Options > Cast video | Facebook and the receiver must support the route |
| Show the phone interface or browse together | iPhone Screen Mirroring | An active AirPlay-compatible receiver |
| Use a TV without suitable wireless reception | Compatible wired video connection | Phone, adapter, display, and content support |

Cast a Reel from the Facebook iPhone App
- Connect the iPhone and supported TV or streaming receiver to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Facebook and find the Reel you want to show.
- Open its player, then select Options.
- Choose Cast video and select the intended TV from the available list.
- If Facebook requests Local Network access, allow it and try Cast video again if necessary.
Menu presentation may change with the app. Follow the visible player options rather than looking for a button at a fixed corner copied from another version.
This is a selected-video workflow. It is not proof that Facebook can send every Reel, private video, or live broadcast to every television. Check whether the particular item plays on the phone and whether its player offers the supported output route before changing TV settings.
Meta's iPhone help specifically excludes Chromecast from this Facebook casting flow. That restriction does not mean an iPhone cannot use Google Cast in a different app. See iPhone and Chromecast options for that separate question.
If the TV Is Missing from Cast Video
First check the receiver's compatibility with Facebook's chosen route. A television supporting one casting system is not necessarily available to every app that uses the word “cast.”
On supported iOS versions, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and check Facebook's permission if it is listed. Reopen the player after granting access. Confirm that the phone and receiver are on the intended home network rather than isolated guest networks.
If Facebook sees one receiver but not another, record their model and receiving method before reinstalling anything. If no compatible app finds local devices, investigate the network. App updates or the video item can change available controls; do not factory-reset the TV for a missing menu option.
Use AirPlay Screen Mirroring as a Separate Method
For a receiver that supports it, Apple's whole-screen method lets you display the iPhone interface:
- Enable AirPlay on the TV or open its compatible receiver.
- Join the same local network with the iPhone.
- Open Control Center > Screen Mirroring and select the destination.
- Enter the receiving screen's code if prompted, then open Facebook.
Test a local photo first. If that works but a particular Facebook video does not, the connection alone does not establish that the content permits this output. Do not assume a different receiver can bypass playback restrictions.
Mirroring can also expose messages, notifications, and other phone activity. Prepare a suitable Focus mode and open the intended content before sharing. Finish through Screen Mirroring > Stop Mirroring, rather than merely closing Facebook.

Where AirMirror Fits
AirMirror is an Android TV receiver for compatible iPhone, iPad, and Mac sharing on local Wi-Fi. If your receiving hardware supports its official Android TV app, install and open it there, then follow the iPhone-to-Android-TV connection guide.
It is not a promise that all Facebook content will play. It also is not an app to install directly on LG webOS or Samsung Tizen. On a television using one of those systems, check native AirPlay or a separately attached compatible receiver instead.
Avoid Obsolete TV-App Instructions
Facebook Watch's television app was discontinued. Its removal is separate from the phone app's current casting options. A TV browser is also not a guaranteed replacement: check the browser's actual Facebook login and video support before relying on it.
If choosing HDMI, verify that the phone and adapter support video output, then select the correct TV input. A cable does not guarantee that an app will allow the video on an external display.
Cast Facebook to TV FAQ
How to see Facebook videos on TV?
Start with the current Reel player's Cast video option and a supported receiver. If you need to browse the entire interface, check full-screen AirPlay separately and remember that notifications may also become visible.
Does Facebook work with Chromecast?
Meta's current iPhone instructions say Chromecast is not available for casting from Apple iOS devices in that Facebook workflow. Do not apply an Android tutorial or another app's Chromecast support to the iPhone Facebook player.
Can I get Facebook on my Samsung TV?
When using iPhone AirPlay screen mirroring, Facebook remains on the phone; you are not installing it on the Samsung TV. Check that model's AirPlay reception separately from whether its app store offers a native Facebook application.
