Does Samsung TV Have Chromecast? Check Google Cast Support

Updated October 29, 20265 min read

TL;DR: Some Samsung TVs now have built-in Google Cast, while others need an external Cast receiver. Samsung confirms support on select 2026 models, so neither “all Samsung TVs have Chromecast” nor “Samsung never supports it” is accurate. Check your exact regional model's specifications, then use a Cast-enabled app. AirPlay and Smart View are separate receiving methods.

The Answer Changed: Check the Model, Not an Old Rule

Samsung's UK 2026 lineup announcement confirms Google Cast on select Mini LED, Neo QLED, and Crystal UHD televisions. It does not promise the feature on every Samsung TV, every market, or every earlier model.

For a concrete example, Samsung's UK specification for the 55-inch M72H, UE55M72HAKXXU, lists both Google Cast: Yes and Apple AirPlay: Yes, with regional exclusions. The model's official product page also identifies its operating system as Tizen. Google Cast therefore does not require that television to run Android TV.

Use that example to understand what to look for, not as a compatibility list for similarly named models. A screen size, series name, or store description can omit regional differences that the full model code identifies.

How to Verify Built-In Google Cast

  1. Find the complete model code in the TV's information menu or on its label.
  2. Open the official Samsung support or product page for that model in your country.
  3. Look for Google Cast or Chromecast built-in in the specification or manual.
  4. Check any regional conditions and required software updates.
  5. If the specification is unclear, ask Samsung about that exact code before buying extra hardware.

Do not treat “works with Google Assistant” as proof of Google Cast. Voice-assistant integration, screen mirroring, and media casting describe different capabilities. Likewise, installing the Google Home phone app does not add an unsupported receiving feature to the television.

For an older model, rely on Samsung's release notes or model support information before expecting an upgrade. A news story about another year's rollout is not confirmation for your TV.

Match the Feature to the Sending Device

What your Samsung TV supportsSuitable starting pointWhat it does not mean

Apple AirPlayApple media streaming or Screen MirroringThe TV also has Google Cast
Smart View-compatible mirroringA supported Samsung/Android phone workflowiPhone Control Center can send native Miracast
No required wireless receiverExternal receiver or compatible HDMI outputA sender app alone upgrades the TV's operating system

A television can provide more than one option, but the names are not interchangeable. For example, selecting a TV in an iPhone video app's Cast list and selecting it in Control Center can use different receiving systems.

The AirPlay and casting comparison explains those modes. Keep that choice separate from troubleshooting an already-supported connection.

Cast to a Samsung with Confirmed Google Cast

Use the Google Cast app workflow: connect the phone and receiving TV to the same home network, open a supported app, tap Cast, and select the TV. On supported iOS versions, allow the app's Local Network access for discovery when requested.

If the app does not offer Cast, the TV's support does not create a new button inside it. Check the app provider's current compatibility information or use its supported Samsung TV app instead.

Whole-screen iPhone mirroring is a different task. If your Samsung also supports AirPlay, select it through Control Center's Screen Mirroring control. A Cast-only destination does not automatically appear there; the iPhone-to-Chromecast guide covers that distinction.

If Your Samsung Lacks Built-In Google Cast

An external Chromecast or another compatible Google Cast device can receive media while the Samsung acts as its HDMI display. Connect the receiver to an available HDMI input, supply its documented power source, select that input, and complete the setup for that receiver model.

Your phone then selects the external receiver's name, which may differ from the TV's own name. Reopening Samsung's AirPlay settings will not change the external Cast receiver's network setup.

For iPhone mirroring, an AirPlay-capable HDMI receiver or a compatible wired video adapter may be a better match than a Cast-only device. Verify the sending device's video-output support before choosing an adapter.

AirMirror is an Android TV receiver for compatible iPhone, iPad, and Mac sharing on the local network. It is not an app to install directly on Samsung Tizen. If using separate compatible Android TV hardware through HDMI, check availability there and follow the Android TV setup guide.

Does Samsung TV Have Chromecast FAQ

How do I tell if my TV has built-in Chromecast?

Check the exact model's official Google Cast specification. YouTube connecting to the TV alone is not proof: YouTube also offers TV-code linking, so that success does not establish full Google Cast support.

Can I use Google Chromecast with my Samsung TV?

An appropriate external Chromecast can use a compatible HDMI input even when the TV lacks built-in Cast. Check the receiver's display, power, network, and content requirements; built-in support and an attached receiver are separate cases.

Why can't I cast to my Samsung TV?

Check that the app and the selected receiver support the same casting system. If an external receiver is connected, select its name and HDMI input rather than expecting Samsung's built-in AirPlay or Smart View controls to configure it.
